From the moment he awoke, the world seemed to be moving in slow motion. Each task, each conversation, each step felt heavy, an arduous climb. His limbs ached. He was in sales, and he was failing. The constant rejection, the unending calls, the pressure to meet quotas – it had slowly eroded him.

The email arrived, a terse notification. He was being shifted to the quality control team. He felt a sliver of something akin to freedom.

He cleared his desk, the office’s chatter a distant symphony. The thought of something new, something different, something without the constant hammering of disappointment, felt like a breath of fresh air. It's not that he was excited, but something of the load on his shoulders felt lighter.
